Apple Watch: zero setup, automatic splits
If you record runs with an Apple Watch, there is nothing to configure — workouts, heart rate, and sleep flow to Apple Health automatically, and Cadeo reads it all from there. This page exists for the part most people don't know about.
"Cadeo automatically picks up the splits set up on my Apple Watch — no manual lapping. And when I run the workout Cadeo prescribed, the analysis and split comparison afterward is great."
— beta runner, week two
The power move: run the prescription as a watch workout
Cadeo prescribes structured days — say, 1 mi warm-up · 2×2 mi @ threshold w/ 75s jog · 1 mi cool-down. Build that same structure as a Custom Workout on the watch and everything downstream gets sharper:
- 1
Check today's card in Cadeo
The structure is spelled out — warm-up, work intervals, recoveries, cool-down.
- 2
Build it on the watch
Workout app → Outdoor Run → ⋯ → Create Workout → Custom. Mirror the segments. Takes about a minute, reusable forever.
- 3
Run it
The watch buzzes each transition and paces each segment. Nothing to lap manually — the segments ARE the laps.
- 4
Open Cadeo after
Every segment arrives intact and Cadeo detects the interval structure automatically. If the run matches the day's prescription, the workout page grades it: rep-by-rep against target, work-only pacing, and an honest verdict on how the session actually landed.
Good to know
- Manual lap presses work too — press the Action button (or double-tap the screen on older watches) at each rep and Cadeo reads those markers the same way.
- No structure at all is also fine: easy runs need none, and Cadeo's auto-analysis still splits by mile.
- Club workout that doesn't match your prescription? Cadeo describes it honestly instead of grading it against the wrong yardstick.
- Wear the watch overnight — recovery reads your sleeping heart rate, and that's half of what powers the morning verdict.
